Zahra Baxi

Hi! I’m Zahra

A product designer passionate about creating meaningful, interactive experiences through human & planet centered designAn approach that balances people’s needs with the well-being of the planet’s ecosystems, designing with care for both..

I’m currently pursuing an MFA in Interactive Design at UC Davis, where my work focuses on using play and interaction to raise awareness about land conservation and environmental stewardship. I also worked for California State Parks as a Park Interpretive Specialist at the California State Railroad Museum, creating a digital exhibit guide to improve language accessibility and assist visitors with visual impairments.

I completed my undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley in Human-Centered Design, an interdisciplinary major blending design, sociology, psychology, and technology. I also earned a Certificate in Design Innovation, which gave me a deeper understanding of the full lifecycle of bringing ideas to life. While at Berkeley, I helped establish the DEI Officer position within the Human-Centered Design Club, Berkeley Innovation, to promote greater accessibility in design communities.

Outside of design, I love sketching, baking, photography, and running Trinkets by Pickles, where I sell handmade art and goods.

Interested in working together?

I design experiences that help people connect more deeply with the world around them. My work blends Human-Centered Design with Planet-Centered Design, two approaches that balance people’s needs with the well-being of the environments we live, learn, and explore in.

My Process

  • Empathize & Observe: uncover insights from people, places, and contexts to guide smart, meaningful design decisions.
  • Define & Frame: turn insights into clear goals and opportunities that make experiences more inclusive and impactful.
  • Ideate & Prototype: bring ideas to life through sketches, mockups, and interactive experiments to see what really works.
  • Test & Iterate: refine every detail based on feedback and real-world use to create experiences that are intuitive, engaging, and effective.

We’d be a great fit if you care about education, inclusion, and the environment, or if you’re working on projects that help people learn, explore, or reconnect with the world around them. If that sounds like you, let’s connect and bring your next project to life.
